We’re finally back together at BarkerCon 2024! This Tuesday–Thursday we are dedicating our time to learning, growing, refining, and connecting at our annual all-agency event. Can’t wait to share a recap and get that post-BarkerCon energy flowing into our work.

This is a very sad and difficult time for our world. The news from the Middle East has impacted us on a global scale and a deeply personal one. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, but when innocent people and children are targeted for murder and abduction, it’s no longer acceptable to stay silent.
All of us at BARKER stand against all acts of terrorism and brutality. We unequivocally condemn anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and all other forms of hateful discrimination.
It takes all of us to stop hate and we all can play a part to spread empathy, humanity and peace both here and around the world. A small gesture makes a difference.

On this day, 103 years ago, women became voters. Since then, we’ve become astronauts, world champions, CEOs, Vice Presidents—and whatever-the-hell we want to be. We’re grateful today and every day for all the women (almost 60% of us!) who make up BARKER. Here’s to Women’s Equality Day.

After 2 long years of working in a remote-hybrid work environment, the BARKERees assembled for an on-site offsite at the office two weeks ago. BARKERcon took place over three days as an all agency effort to find inspiration, streamline our workflow, and of course meet up IRL for the first time in forever! Happy National Tequila Day from the team here at BARKER. Last week at our all-agency gathering, we had a lot of fun re-meeting IRL with a lime in one hand and @1800tequila in the other. Consider the ice…broken. (Again.)

What’s better than one copywriter intern? Two copywriter interns. Belise is a writer, poet, college student, and when she’s not doing all that, she’s likely petting her cat. She developed a love for writing after immigrating from Tanzania and learning the ins and outs of the English language. She took it one word at a time, to understand the meaning and power of each. BARKER is thrilled to have Belise on board, as she takes pride in speaking her mind and boldly living life out loud. And we think everyone could take a page out of Belise’s book (no pun intended) in that regard.
It is with great delight that we welcome our new intern, Carlnice! Carlnice is from the windy city, but she far prefers “Summertime Chi.” She graduated with a degree in Communications from Eastern Illinois University. But from a young age, she dreamt of becoming a writer and spending her days getting lost within the multiverse it creates. When she is not putting pen to paper, she is traveling and exploring all parts of our world, gaining inspiration from other culture’s stories and folktales. With Carlnice on our team, we are excited to have our own version of a Summertime Chi.
